However, if the customer has problems with some programs or applications, they can try to upgrade the firmware. The box upgrade firmware is mainly divided into automatic upgrade, semi-automatic upgrade, and manual upgrade.
Automatic upgrade: The manufacturer of the set-top box will send the upgrade information to the box. As long as the box is connected to the network, you can click on the automatic upgrade in the settings. This kind of upgrade function similar to mobile phone (general brand TV set-top boxes have this function, such as: Xiaomi, MECOOL, Amazon, etc.)
Semi-automatic upgrade is divided into 2 types
One is that the customer needs to send the MAC number on the back of the box to the manufacturer, and the manufacturer will send an upgrade request to the corresponding box through the MAC number, and the customer will directly upgrade after clicking confirm.
The other is that the customer needs to download the automatic upgrade firmware to the U disk (note: the U disk must be formatted before to upgrading firmware), and then open the box and insert the U flash at the same time, then the box will automatically start the upgrade.
There are also 2 types of manual upgrades:
One is to use the U disk to download the upgrade firmware, then insert the U disk into the box, open the firmware upgrade APP of the box, select the upgrade firmware, and confirm the upgrade.
The other is that you need to use computer software to upgrade the box, you need to download the upgraded software and the corresponding firmware. Most firmware upgrades on the market use this method, and the software used by the three different chip manufacturers is also different. First, you need to download the corresponding software and firmware to the computer, and then prepare a USB to USB cable.
Amlogic chipset firmware upgrade steps:
Open the software-click File-select Imoort image-select the firmware-connect the box to the computer (plug the USB cable into the computer, use a small stick to press the reset button of the box, the reset button of the box is usually located in the power socket or AV into the socket, and then insert the USB cable into the box) – click Start – after the upload is complete, the upgrade is successful.
RockChip chipset firmware upgrade steps:
Install the driver first and then open the software – click Firmware – select the firmware – after the firmware is uploaded successfully – connect the box to the computer (insert the USB cable into the computer, use a small stick to hold down the reset button of the box, the reset button of the box is in normal position In the power socket or AV socket, and then insert the USB cable into the box) – select the box – click Run – after the upload is complete, the upgrade is successful.
Allwinner chipset firmware upgrade steps:
Open the software – click Firmware – select Imoort image – select firmware – connect the box to the computer (plug the USB cable into the computer, use a small stick to press the reset button of the box, the reset button of the box is usually located in the power socket or AV into the socket, and then insert the USB cable into the box) – click to confirm the upload – after the upload is completed, the upgrade is successful.
